Better Than Ezra will headline the post-race Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series at the 13th annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon & ½ Marathon on Sunday, January 17, 2016. The band will perform for thousands of runners and spectators at the finish line festival at Tempe Beach Park. The concert is free and open to the public.
Alternative rock trio, Better Than Ezra first came together in 1988 in Baton Rouge, La. They are best known for their hit singles “Good” and “At the Stars.” Better Than Ezra has released eight albums including, Deluxe (1993), a platinum record, and most recently All Together Now (2014).
“We are thrilled to have Better Than Ezra headline our post-race concert,” said Kevin Buffalino, Event Manager. “They will be an epic finale to race weekend and a great way to celebrate a marathon or half marathon accomplishment. Online registration is still open and we encourage all runners to lace up their running shoes and join us in Arizona in 2016.”
The event will feature two-days of running with the Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K presented by Brooks on Saturday in Tempe Beach Park and the marathon, half marathon and 10K on Sunday. Participants can take the “Remix Challenge” by running both Saturday and Sunday to earn the coveted Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race’s finisher medals.
The marathon and half marathon feature two different start lines and will take runners on a scenic tour of Scottsdale, Phoenix and Tempe. Marathoners will start in downtown Phoenix and half marathon and 10K runners on University Ave. at College in Tempe. All races will finish on Rio Salado Parkway at Ash in Tempe Beach Park.
Live bands, cheerleaders and thousands of spectators will help motivate runners to the finish line. Upon finishing, participants are invited to relax with family and friends for a special post-race concert.
Race weekend kicks off with a free Health & Fitness Expo presented by FOX 10 and My 45, where runners can find numerous vendors, showcasing the latest in running gear, sports apparel and health and nutritional information. The Expo takes place at the Phoenix Convention Center on Friday, January 15 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, January 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Expo is free and open to the public.
