7th annual race will return to the “Big D” the weekend of March 18 – 20
Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon is set to return the weekend of March 18 – 20, 2016. The race, back for its 7th year, will take runners on a scenic tour of downtown Dallas. Registration will open at $55 for the half-marathon and runners can take advantage of the special price through July 8.
“The city of Dallas is a blast and a great one to run,” said Megan Miller, Event Manager. “We are thrilled to be back for year seven and ready to rock the ‘Big D’. We encourage all runners to grab a friend and sign up for what is sure to be another epic race weekend.”
In 2016, the event will once again feature two days of running with the Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K on Saturday. Participants can take the “Remix Challenge” by running both Saturday and Sunday and will once again earn the special Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race’s finisher medals. The 5K will take place in Fair Park.
The half marathon will start at S. Lamar Street and Young Street and tour Dallas’ charming neighborhoods and bustling downtown attractions. Course highlights include Pioneer Plaza, Deep Ellum, Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and Dealey Plaza.
In true Rock ‘n’ Roll fashion local bands will play through the streets of Dallas, along with spectators and high school cheerleading teams lining the route to motivate runners to the finish line. Upon finishing downtown, participants are invited to relax and celebrate with family and friends at the finish line festival.
Race weekend kicks off with a free Health & Fitness Expo, where runners can find numerous vendors, interactive clinics with running experts, elite athletes, and much more. The expo takes place at the Dallas Convention Center on Friday, March 18 from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm and Saturday, March 19 from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm. The Expo is free and open to the public.
