Meet St. Jude Patient Maddy

Maddy

In December 2014, Maddy began having terrible headaches that eventually caused vomiting and vision problems. A number of doctor and hospital visits led to the discovery of a cancerous brain tumor called medulloblastoma. Maddy underwent emergency brain surgery in her home state of Texas to remove the tumor. Her family then turned to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® for her continuing care.

Runners who fundraise for St. Jude are helping kids, like Maddy.  Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

“St. Jude lets us continue living our lives while still saving to pay our bills at home,” said Maddy’s mom. “The assistance with housing and the cost of food while we’re here, it’s just helped out tremendously.” Maddy loves Disney princesses, and before treatment, she played soccer on a team coached by her dad.
