Stella is a sweet girl who loves arts and crafts, playing with dolls and spending time with her little sister. Her treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® for acute myeloid leukemia includes chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. “St. Jude has given us hope,” said her mom. “Stella has gotten phenomenal treatment here. We’re at the best place possible.”
Runners who fundraise for St. Jude while training for their race are called St. Jude Heroes, and they’re helping kids, like Stella. The funds raised by Heroes help ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Stella’s parents won’t be surprised if she grows up to be a doctor. “She’s a girl who knows what she wants,” her mom said. “Even before she was sick, she’s wanted to be a doctor.”
