Race Day Weather Update

UPDATE // Sunday, November 15 – 4:00pm PST

The winds have picked up for our race tonight. For the safety of all runners our operations team may take down signage, banners and mile markers.

We will continue to monitor the weather and will make announcements at the start line should anything change.

Thank you for running with us and we hope you all have a great time running the Las Vegas Strip at Night!

UPDATE // Sunday, November 15 – 11:30am PST

The wind advisory has been lifted for today! We plan on being able to hang and erect all signage and mile markers. Should winds pick up our Operations team will make judgment calls on what (if anything) to take down.

We will continue to monitor the weather closely and communicate to all runners via email, Facebook, and at the Start Line Festival should anything change.

Thank you for running with us and we hope you all have a great time running the Las Vegas Strip at Night!

UPDATE // Saturday, November 14 – 3:00pm PST

We are anticipating high winds on Sunday during the 2015 GEICO Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, and 10K. Our Event Director and operations team will be working closely with City of Las Vegas Officials to monitor the weather on an hourly basis.

We want to make you aware of some ways the high winds may affect your race day experience and what you may possibly expect:

  1. Signage, Mile Markers, & Clocks: Directional signage, banners (such as start and finish line banners), mile markers, and timing clocks may not be hung or erected. We will put up as much signage that is safe and will supplement any directional signage with additional “human arrows.”
  2. Water Stations: Water cups are light — even with water in them and we are worried they will blow away. We are working on securing additional cups and ways to keep the stations protected from the wind.
  3. Race Day Clothing: We recommend you wear layers and utilize our Gear Check to have a jacket/windbreaker to wear at the pre-race concert and post race.

We will continue to update this page as well as our Facebook page as we have more information about weather, wind, and what you can expect on race day.
