2013: The All American Rejects
Achieving mainstream success with their self-titles album in 2003, the All American Rejects were a staple in the rock scene for years to come. Belting out hit singles “Dirty Little Secret”, “Move Along”, and “It Ends Tonight” to 25,000+ runners and spectators created a sing along atmosphere unlike any other.
2014: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Snoop Dogg was the announced headliner in 2014, but with a conflict arising just weeks before race weekend causing him to cancel, a replacement was needed. How about Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, coming off four Grammy Award wins in 2014 including Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance? Not too shabby of a fill in. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis dominated the all new (and MASSIVE) main stage at the Start Line Festival, getting the crowd dancing like never before to hits including “Can’t Hold Us” and “Thrift Shop.”
2015: Kid Rock
Truly embracing the “Rock ‘n’ Roll” name, Kid Rock took over the start line festival stage in 2015. As a five-time Grammy nominee and with over 35 million albums sold worldwide, it’s safe to say there were a few hits that had the crowd singing along. Blasting “Bawitdaba”, “Cowboy”, and “All Summer Long” created a welcomed distraction from pre-race jitters as he coined the crowd “the healthiest I’ve ever played for.”
2016: Snoop Dogg
At the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, we celebrate all genres of music as we know each and every runner gets pumped up to a different beat. We gave Snoop Dogg another shot in 2016 and this time he followed through on the commitment. He played all the hits and had the crowd bouncing and swaying to the classics that have been coming through speakers across the globe since the early 90s.
2017: Goo Goo Dolls
