REGISTRATION QUESTIONS

How do I switch distances?

Switching from a LONGER distance to a SHORTER distance

Before SEPTEMBER 29: If you would like to switch from a longer distance to a shorter distance, simply email this request along with your first name, last name, the mailing address that you registered with, and your new predicted finish time to Customer Service.

After SEPTEMBER 29:

  • If you decide to switch from a longer distance to a shorter distance that will take place on the same day as your current registration, simply show up to the start line on race day and your timing tag will reflect the change. You can visit the corral change table in the Check-In area of the Expo for information on the appropriate corral to start in. Please note the 10K starts at a different time and at a different location than the marathon & half marathon.
  • If you decide to switch from a longer distance to the Saturday 5K, please pick up your assigned bib number at the Expo and proceed to the Solutions table.

Switching from the HALF Marathon to Marathon

Before the SEPTEMBER 29: To upgrade from the Half Marathon to the Marathon simply contact our Customer Service and provide your name and new predicted finishing time. The early upgrade fee is $20 when changing from the Half Marathon to the Marathon.

After the SEPTEMBER 29: If you would like to upgrade from the Half Marathon to Marathon, you will need to pay an upgrade fee at the Expo. Please pick up your assigned bib number and proceed to the Solutions table. The late upgrade fee is $35 when changing from the Half Marathon to the Marathon at the Expo.

Switching from any other SHORTER distance to any other LONGER distance (does not include the Half Marathon to Marathon upgrade)

Before the SEPTEMBER 29: To upgrade from any other shorter distance to any other longer distance, simply contact our Customer Service and provide your name and new predicted finishing time. The early upgrade fee is the difference in price between the registration fees charged at the time of registration, plus a $10 upgrade fee (processing fee is not included when calculating price difference).

After the SEPTEMBER 29:  If you would like to upgrade from any other shorter distance to any other longer distance, you will need to pay an upgrade fee at the Expo. Please pick up your assigned bib number and proceed to the Solutions table. You will be charged the appropriate fee based on the distance you are currently registered for and your desired distance.

I'd like to change my predicted finish time... what can I do?

Before October 1

Email customer service the following information:

  • First & last name
  • Mailing address you registered with
  • New predicted finish time

After October 1

Pick up your race number at the Health & Fitness Expo and proceed to the Corral Change table to re re-assigned to the appropriate corral. To move back to a slower corral, no corral change is needed so simply start in your desired corral on race day.

Are there any discounts on the race?

Great News! With Registration Refund provided by Transamerica you can request a 100% registration fee refund if you are unable to participate due to a specific covered reason. To qualify, you must select the Registration Refund option at the time of registration. You may then receive a registration fee refund if you are unable to participate due to any of the following reasons:

Bad things like:
Injury, unforeseen illness, family member injury or illness, family member loss of life, involuntary job loss, unexpected travel delays (that are covered under the policy).

Good things like:
Pregnancy, childbirth, family member pregnancy or childbirth.

Other reasons including:
Active duty military deployment, permanent job relocation.

Note: A Qualified Medical Practitioner must certify illness, injury or pregnancy refund requests.

If a registration refund is not purchased at the time of registration, entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and entries are NON-TRANSFERABLE. Sorry, no exceptions. Once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate. You may not give or sell your number to anyone else. You also may not transfer your application to the following year or to another Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series event.

RACE DAY QUESTIONS

How do I earn the Remix Challenge Medal?

To earn the Remix Challenge medal, you must run the Saturday 5K AND one of the distances on Sunday (Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K). You will pick up your THIRD medal at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Tent after you exit the secure zone when you finish your Sunday race.

Register for each distance separately using the same name and date of birth and we will match your records.

How do I get to the Start Line?

First, familiarize yourself with the start & finish line locations and their proximity from where you are staying.

Marathon and 1/2 Marathon Start Line: The Start Line on Las Vegas Blvd. at New York-New York Hotel & Casino.

10K Start Line: The 10K start line is on Las Vegas Blvd. outside SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. Note, this is separate from the marathon and 1/2 marathon start line.

What happens if I fall off pace and are at risk of not finishing within the communicated time limits?

To ensure that roads reopen to vehicular traffic at the scheduled times, we have the following course time limits:

  • Marathon: 5 hours
  • Half marathon: 4 hours
  • 10K: 1 hour 35 minutes
  • 5K: 1 hour

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • This is timing tag time, not gun time. Course time limits begin when the last participant for each distance crosses the start line.
  • All marathoners will be placed in the first wave. Therefore, the 5 hour time limit begins when the last scheduled blue start participant crosses the start line, approx. 4:45pm
  • It is imperative for ALL participants to start in their assigned corrals
  • If a marathoner does not start in the assigned wave, they will not have the full 5 hours to complete the event.

We understand the 5 hour time limit on the marathon is incredibly strict. Due to the impact the road closures have on Las Vegas, we must adhere to these timelines to minimize impact on businesses, hotels, and guest of the city.

We implement ‘diversions’ on course if you fall off the 5 hour marathon pace. All diversions are based off an 11:27 min/mile pace, starting from when the last scheduled marathoner crosses the start line. If you do not make it to the diversions by the communicated times, a portion of the course will be ‘cut’, therefore you will not be able to complete the whole 26.2 miles.

If you are concerned about hitting the 5 hour time limit, we strongly recommend you run the half marathon. We want to ensure you have as amazing of an experience as possible, and don’t want to divert you if at all possible.

Are spectators allowed to attend the marathon and 1/2 marathon headliner concert?
Participants of all race distances (marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K), along with friends and family members, will be permitted to enter, free of charge. Please check out the Entertainment page for all details
Is there entertainment for 10K participants?

There will be pre-race entertainment programmed for 10K participants. There will also be on course entertainment, as the 10K course is the second half of the half marathon course.

What type of support will be provided on course?

Course support stations will be staged every 1-2 miles throughout each of the race courses.

  • Every station will provide water
  • Gatorade (lemon lime) will be at every other station, starting with the second station
  • Energy gels will be provided at one station for half marathoners and two stations for marathoners.
What will the weather be like?

What kind of medical support will be on site?

The medical team is a dedicated group of multidisciplinary medical professionals available to help assess your race day needs and administer acute first aid when necessary.

Look for large red & white medical tents and medical volunteers in red shirts at the following locations:

  • Start line Village
  • On course (tents every 2 miles & medical volunteer cyclists in each corral)
  • Finish line

TRAVEL QUESTIONS

Do I have to attend the Health & Fitness Expo?

Participants must attend the Health & Fitness Expo on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday to pick up their own race number, t-shirt and gear check bag. A friend or family member is not allowed to pick up your materials on your behalf.

If you cannot make it to the Expo, race day packet pickup is available for a $40 fee. More information on race day pickup can be found here.

What hotel should I stay at?

A few things to consider:

  • Be sure to first, familiarize yourself with the start and finish line locations for the distance(s) you are participating in. The marathon and 1/2 marathon start and finish lines are far apart.
  • Though the finish line for the marathon, 1/2 marathon and 10K is located at The Mirage, the participant exit from the secure zone is at the intersection of Flamingo Rd. and Las Vegas Blvd. between the Bellagio and Caesars Palace hotels.
  • The Monorail is a great way to get north and south on the Strip, and runs behind the hotels on the east side of Las Vegas Blvd. Details regarding discounts, scheduling and convenient stops is available here.
  • There are no post race shuttles and due to road closure congestion, hailing a cap/taxi is difficult. Therefore, we recommend staying within close proximity to the Flamingo Rd. and Las Vegas Blvd. intersection.
