Republica dominated the charts in the Nineties and exploded again back in 2013 with the release of ‘Christiana Obey’ EP. The band’s iconic and fiery frontwoman, Saffron, Tim Dorney (keyboard), Johnny Male (guitar) and Conor Lawrence (drums) rode the Britpop wave of female-fronted rock bands injecting their self-dubbed “techno-pop, punk rock” sound. Between 1996 and 1999, Republica sold 3 million albums with platinum sales across the globe. Their music became the soundtrack to the past few decades with ‘Ready to Go’ featured on more than 300 films and adverts and ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’ as the soundtrack to Wes Craven’s hit movie Scream. Their new material is a welcome return to the gritty, electronica sound which continues to set them apart from fellow Britpop titans.
Republica headlines the Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool Marathon Finish Festival Concert and take center stage 2pm on Sunday.
