Finishing a half marathon is an emotional experience—no matter the time completed.
Dan Okress of Cleveland, Ohio embodied this spirit on Saturday with large tears in his eyes. Wearing a faded Cleveland Browns uniform, Okress says that he is running to honor the memory of lost loved ones like his sister who passed away from cancer and another relative to suicide.
He was out on the Rock ‘n’ Roll DC course with his daughter to help raise awareness for cancer and mental illness.
“Today was emotional, but I feel great. I want to run another one,” he says.
