There aren’t many people out there who just wake up and decide to run a marathon and then be able cross the finish line.
A senior at nearby Georgetown University, Kitty Lan of Laguna Niguel, California had only completed a 16-mile training run in advance of Saturday’s race.
But she did it and based on her broad smile, looked like she could do another one.
“I am just so happy that I did it,” she says. “I loved this race. I was walking for a mile and then the 4:25 pace group ran past me and I was able to go with them. Everyone out there was enthusiastic. Someday I want to qualify for Boston.”
