Music City Challenge

Update: We have unfortunately just received news that the long sleeve tee, which is your Music City Challenge award, has not made it to Nashville in time for you to pick up at the finish line. We are so disappointed to bring you this news, and understand that you have been looking forward to wearing your tee as a display of your hard work.

We have received confirmation from the supplier that your tee will be put in the mail by  4/6. In the meantime, we would like to offer you a $20 credit to the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon Series Merchandise Store at the finish line. After completing your long run tomorrow, simply head to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series tent to collect your merchandise voucher.

We sincerely apologize for this disappointment. We look forward to delivering your well-deserved tee to you soon.

We dare you to take on the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville 5K and then the Marathon or 1/2 Marathon to complete the Music City Challenge.

Step 1: Accept the challenge.

Step 2: Cross the 5K finish line and then the Marathon or 1/2 Marathon finish line on 4/30.

Step 3: Earn both race tees, finisher medals and a commemorative long sleeve tee for rocking extra hard!

Is there a time limit for completing the 5K?

Not exactly, but Music City Challenge participants will still be held to the established time limits for the full marathon and half marathon. Runners taking part in the full marathon must be back at the start line by 7:45 am, and those taking part in the half marathon must be back at the start line by 8:15 am. The 5K starts at 6:45 am.

How far apart is the 5K finish line from the start line of the half marathon and full marathon?

It is approximately a 1 mile walk or run from the 5K finish line back to the half marathon and marathon start line on Broadway via the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge.

What are the time limits for the marathon and half marathon?

The official course time limit is 6 hours (14:53/mile pace) for the marathon and 4 hours (18:19/mile pace) for the half marathon. Course time limits begin when the last participant in that distance crosses the start line. A tail vehicle will follow the last runner on pace, and any participant who falls behind will be picked up in the tail vehicle and transported to the back of the pack to stay on-pace.

For the marathon, diversions will also be implemented at Mile 11.1 at 10:15 am, at Mile 17.2 at 11:45 am and at Mile 21.5 at 12:49 pm.

When will I receive my bonus commemorative long sleeve tee for completing the Music City Challenge?

After you cross the finish line of the half marathon or marathon, visit the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series tent at the Finish Line Festival to claim your rockin’ long sleeve tee. If you did not pick up your 5K medal after the race, it will also be available at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series tent.

Will this cause any issues with timing?

It would be best to wear only your 5K timing tag during the 5K and only your half marathon or marathon timing tag during your long run. However, if that is not logistically possible, you can wear both during the 5K and simply remove the 5K timing tag after completing that race. Results for both races will be posted by 7:00 pm PDT on race day, and corrections can always be submitted here.

I have some additional questions. Who can I talk to?
