Meet #RnRRAL runner Mary Ann, from Pennsylvania. We’d like to thank her for sharing her Rock ‘n’ Roll moment with us. Read her story below!
I started running when I turned 50. My goal was to do a 5K by age 50, and I did that … and many more!
5K races turned into 10Ks, then a half marathon. But I wanted to do a Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series race. That’s when I found the Rock ‘n’ Roll Raleigh Marathon & 1/2 Marathon and registered for the 2016 race.
I trained for 12 weeks with my trainer faithfully. Then, the day came to run my second half marathon, and I did it! All those hills, and my time was still great: 2 hours, 12 minutes.
I am happy to say that on April 2, 2017, I will be running the Rock ‘n’ Roll Raleigh Half Marathon again!
In the New Year, Mary Ann looks forward to continuing to race and stay physically fit by training daily. When asked to name the most rewarding part of her journey from 5K races to half marathon races, she has the following to offer, “The most rewarding part is to do it for me. To stay healthy and fit. ”
Mary Ann looks forward to lining up on the Start Line on April 2, 2017, where she’ll look to improve her time from last year’s half marathon. She also looks forward to simply enjoying the race, having fun with friends and family that will be there to support her.
