The fourth annual Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Raleigh Marathon & 1/2 Marathon was a huge success, bringing nearly 9,000 participants together to rock ‘n’ roll through downtown Raleigh. The festivities kicked off at the Raleigh Convention Center, where the Health & Fitness Expo was held Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1. Expo visitors were able to pick up their race day necessities and shop the latest nutrition and fitness retailers in the industry.
Saturday, April 1 gave way to the first day of racing with the 5K presented by Brooks starting at 8 a.m. in Dorthea Dix Park. Afterwards participants enjoyed a Finish Line Festival and concert.
Sunday brought the biggest group of participants together to tackle the marathon and half marathon. Participants readied their mark in the heart of North Carolina’s capital city at the intersection Fayetville Street & Davie Street. After crushing 13.1 or 26.2-miles participants wound their to the Finish Line, conveniently located outside Red Hat Amphitheater before continuing on their headliner concert where alternative rock back Cracker rocked the house, celebrating all Raleigh participants and their efforts.
