Raleigh Named Forbes Top 12 Destination of 2017!
Global authority on luxury travel Forbes Travel Guide recently listed Raleigh, North Carolina among its Top 12 Travel Destinations of 2017! The list featured hot spot destinations, some new, some old and some you may have never heard of. The Forbes Travel Guide enlists anonymous inspectors to travel the world in search of the best hotels, restaurants and spas to rank them against 800 objective standards.
Raleigh made the list with special nods to it’s budding restaurant scene that regularly features farm to table fresh ingredients and high quality dining experiences throughout the city. With more than 1,300 restaurants in Raleigh, the Forbes piece also notes the epicurean adventures for foodies and taste buds of every range.

MORGAN STREET FOOD HALL
Not to be confused with a traditional food court, The Morgan Street Food Hall & Market is set to bring a new lifestyle and dining concept to the Triangle area. After missing it’s original spring 2017 open date, it’s now set to open in late August 2017 and will include local eateries, restaurants, and food or beverage retailers in an open space, shared seating area. The hall is 22,000 square feet, a massive space in the downtown area, featuring 16 restaurants and 16 boutique shops to date and growing weekly.
Take your pick of a wide range of foods, flavors and unique food and beverage shopping finds. Mark your calendar, because this will be a huge, new and exciting addition to Raleigh!
JAMES BEARD NOMINATED CHEFS
In 2017, two of the 14 N.C. nominated James Beard chefs came from Raleigh owned restaurants. Ashleigh Christensen of Poole’s Diner and Cheetie Kumar of Garland were semifinalists in spring 2017, and although they didn’t win, they are two staples in the downtown dining scene that are must eats for residents and locals alike. Poole’s serves up what’s considered contemporary Southern cuisine with seasonal ingredients in a small venue. Garland is a fun blend of Indian and Pan-Asian items served with craft cocktails in a sophisticated, yet playful setting.
FARM FRESH INGREDIENTS
