Before reaching the start line, teams of people never cease to work behind the scenes to deliver you the Rock ‘n’ Roll experience. So who are those people working with grassroots ambassadors, managing charity partnerships, and rising early to greet you on race day?
Meet: Reed Pellett
Role: Grassroots Marketing Manager for Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series
Reed, originally from Bellevue, WA started running at the tender age of 6 when her Dad recruited her to be his running partner. They ran the annual Dad and Me Fun Run 1K every year, gradually working their way up to longer distances. Not only was running a fun and engaging challenge, but it allowed them one-on-one time together. A father-daughter tradition was born. Reed and her Dad kept up this pace until she left for college.
It was in Reed’s Freshman year at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles CA, that she discovered how much she missed her favorite running partner. After gaining the infamous Freshman 15 (aka too much pizza and beer) and determined to get back in shape, she decided to sign up for her first marathon. “I got addicted to the marathon race and then shortly after my Dad and I were doing a race every year together, whether it was a ½ or full marathon. I would pick a race and new city and we would meet there—along with my Mom by our side to be the cheerleader! It was a great way to see my parents since I lived out of state and it was a fun way to explore new cities.”
After graduating college, Reed worked in the non-profit sector for 4 years as the head of endurance fundraising programs for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America and the American Cancer Society . The opportunity to work with charity partners’ of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, gave her visibility into the endurance sports industry, and eventually led to her current role at CGI.
Favorite Part of Her Job:
Reed currently manages grassroots ambassadors, the in-market warriors of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. “Our ambassador program is such an amazing and essential program. Not only do I get to hire and search for great ambassadors, I get to see and hear about the great events they put on in local communities across the country, to create buzz for all our fantastic events.”
In her spare time…
In addition to running, Reed finds solace in yoga and a full social calendar. “I love Corepower Sculpt, wine (lots of it), happy hours with friends, and spending time with my family as much as possible. I also like to travel even if it’s just a short weekend trip.”
“I’d like to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro for my 30th birthday.”
