Meet Crantina | Tina

Ever wonder who’s standing next to you in your corral at the start line, or cheering you on when you’re about to give up during a race? We’ll be featuring guest bloggers that have a passion for Rock ‘n’ Roll and inspire us by their dedication and commitment to the sport of running. You may recognize their faces, but the purpose of these posts is to put a face behind the name to better understand their journey to self-discovery.

Today’s post comes to us from guest contributor Tina, author of Fabulosi-t. The Canada native took her health and happiness in to her own hands and hasn’t looked back. 300x600_TinGarstad

I was born in Calgary, Alberta, but grew up in a small Alberta town – Stettler. I have now lived in Calgary since 2003 after a few years in Australia.

I was a cross country runner in high school. But I got lazy and sedentary. About 6 years ago I got tired of being tired and decided to get back into running. Three years ago I lost 40 pounds and began training for my first half marathon. Since 2011, I have run 21 half marathons – my favourite distance!

Running has changed my life! I am still working on gaining speed, but I love how running makes me feel. It really clears the mind and energizes the body. I love how it has transformed me, and I look forward for doing this for years to come.

I have been reading about and following the Rock ‘n’ Roll Series for a few years and have several on my ‘to-do’ list! I have been inspired by reading about the races and checking out the bling. Rock ‘n’ Roll Vancouver will be my FIRST Rock ‘n’ Roll race! I love the city of Vancouver and I am so excited for a rockin’ experience!

Vancouver is one of our country’s most beautiful cities! Ocean and mountain views in an inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll race will be an awesome experience no one should miss!

One of Tina’s favourite quotes:

“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” – Marilyn Monroe
