Ever wonder who’s standing next to you in your corral at the start line, or cheering you on when you’re about to give up during a race? We’ll be featuring guest bloggers that have a passion for Rock ‘n’ Roll and inspire us by their dedication and commitment to the sport of running. You may recognize their faces, but the purpose of these posts is to put a face behind the name to better understand their journey to self-discovery.
I began running after the birth of my second child to help lose the baby weight! I found a buddy at work who was looking for someone to start Couch 2 5K with; we are both Disney fans so we set our sights on running the Disney World Marathon the following January. The rest, as they say, is history!
Running makes me feel good about myself; I haven’t always had the best self esteem but running makes me feel strong and healthy, and it gives me the “me” time I need to help make me a better wife and mom!
Has the Rock ‘n’ Roll Series played a role in my running? YES! My friend and I have had our eyes on the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans race for a year now and we are finally getting the chance to run it in 2014! I am hoping for a big PR there before I head to Nashville for the Country Music Marathon!
I’m excited to run the 2014 Country Music Marathon because I love Nashville. I have run 2 half marathons there and I’m looking forward to a third! I am also really excited to be participating in an event that supports St. Jude – I am proud to call myself a St. Jude Hero!
There’s no better time like the present to set a goal like this race for yourself! I know so many people who are timid about signing up for a race like this but CMM is a short drive for us Memphians and it would make a GREAT first half or full marathon!
My all time favorite motivational quite is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – Philippians 4:13
