Miles Make a Difference in New Orleans

Q&A with Bridget Mitchell, Manager of Cause Marketing for Team Feed the Children.

Q. New Orleans is the first Rock ‘n’ Roll Event to benefit Feed the Children. Why New Orleans?

A. Feed The Children is dedicated to continue to provide support to the city of New Orleans for as long as there are families in need. The organization started its efforts after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 with a 600+ truck convoy of food and life’s essentials to the area and they have not stopped since. Feed The Children has deep roots in the New Orleans community and its members, hence the reason for choosing RNR NOLA.2014 Fulton KY Smith family PA (22)

Q. What role does Feed the Children play in New Orleans?

A. Today, while we still recognize the ever-present goal of combating hunger; we’ve expanded our focus and banded together with partners to provide essential services, training, and educational support to those very same families in need. We are empowering neighborhood communities to help themselves.

Q. If one joins Team Feed the Children, where does their fundraising money go?
A. All the money raised through Team Feed the Children will stay right in the New Orleans community. Funds raised through the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans not only enable us to continue this critical work but also address nutrition, food access issues and early childhood education in today’s New Orleans.
