“One day you won’t be able to do this. Today is not that day.”
Why do you run?
I run to prove that I don’t have to be defined by my diagnosis (POTS). I run to prove that I am stronger. I run for enjoyment, for fun, and to invest in myself and my future. I run for me, and I run for those with chronic illness who can’t run. I run because it’s a gift I’ve been given.
Favorite place to run:
I love running on the beach in Marco Island, Florida!
Running gear you can not live without:
My shoes (Brooks Adrenalines) and my calf sleeves (BioSkin!).
When not running where would we find you?
In my counseling office (I’m a mental health counselor), in the fitness studio teaching barre, out with friends, biking, or on my couch in my living room.
Favorite post race fuel:
I love chips and salsa and subway post-race! I also get a fancy Starbucks drink to celebrate!
Song you want to hear at the finish line:
Stronger- Kelly Clarkson. Reminds me of all I’ve overcome with my diagnosis!
