My personal running mantra is “Do Not Accept Defeat”. I believe my legs can carry me through the miles of a half marathon or marathon, but it is my brain that truly needs the training. When the run or race gets tough, I repeat my mantra to myself and fight for it.
Why do you run?
I started running three years ago when my twins were 2. I had lost a sense of self and realized I needed something for ME. I quickly found myself on the run and became a better version of me. I became someone who loved life and the pursuit of happiness. Today, I still run for myself, but I also run for my girls who aspire to be a runner like Mommy. I also run to spend time with my friends and get some Mommy time!
Favorite place to run:
I love to run on our local Greenway. Besides the beautiful scenery, I’m always likely to bump into someone I know. I love being able to high five a friend and cheer them on along the way!
Running gear you can not live without:
My Mizuno Wave Riders. These are my magic shoes that let me run without worrying about anything. They hug my feet and carry me mile after mile.
When not running where would we find you?
Either at work, since I’m a full time pharmacist, or spending time with my family. I have 5 year old twins that keep me on my toes!
Favorite post race fuel:
An ice cold regular coke and french fries! I never claimed to be healthy.
Song you want to hear at the finish line:
Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi. It might be full of profanity but it’s my theme song. It pumps me up and makes me smile like no other!
