“We’re Bains. We do things.” This is what Mom used to say about us (me, two brothers, Mom, Dad). When she entered hospice in spring 2012 this is what made me decide to run for DetermiNation. You can’t rest on your laurels–but you can display your bling!–you’ve got to keep doing things. So, I DO things.
Why do you run?
Because I can! Running helps me appreciate my body in a way that few other things can touch. I know many women feel the same way, and in a world where Kim Kardashian’s butt rules the internet, we modern women need more ways to learn to love ourselves instead of wishing we were photoshopped.
Favorite place to run:
Outside in fresh, clean air. Preferably with some trees, and without too many hills (but I’ll suffer them if I must).
Running gear you can not live without:
Compression sleeves, Wrights double layer socks, good rundies, a hat (my hair turns into a nest!), Body Glide.
When not running where would we find you?
Depending on the time and day, in my office (I practice law–some day I will get it right), on my yoga mat (I teach Mondays at 6 a.m. and I am NOT a morning person), on the road (I travel a lot for work), blogging, reading or otherwise nerding out, or underneath my cat (his primary job is person-weight).
Favorite post race fuel:
Chocolate milk! From there it is a tie…my motto is “eat all the foods” :)
Song you want to hear at the finish line:
