Why do you run?
It is my solace, my therapy, my lifeline. I run for health first, for sanity second. I don’t just run. I AM a runner. It’s who I am.
Favorite place to run:
Trail at a lake near my house. It is not always possible to get there (park hours) but it’s my favorite route.
Running gear you can not live without:
Shoes and Honey Stinger chews. I’m a diabetic. Non-insulin dependent as long as I control my glucose with nutrition/exercise.
When not running where would we find you?
Strength training at my CrossFit box. Strength training is crucial to my running. Outside of that, somewhere outside taking pictures. I’m an avid landscape and food photographer and I write for US News Health for the Eat+Run feature. Those take up most of my time.
Favorite post race fuel:
Ice cold Coke and plain potato chips. The only time I drink a Coke is if I’ve earned it..race day!
