I am someone who lives by “Everything happens for a reason”. I truly believe there is a purpose to my life and that things will naturally fall in place if I am doing what I can to make it work that way. I think this applies to my training and racing as well, as if I put the effort in, I will be more likely to achieve my goals.
Why do you run?
I originally started running in order to keep my weight down during college. I quickly fell in love with it – some would say I’m addicted – and have been running almost daily for the last 12 years. Now, I run to not only stay in shape, but to be an example to my kids as well as the students I teach.
Favorite place to run:
I am lucky to live in a suburb of St. Louis that has several running and biking trails. I have trained for marathons, coached athletes, and went on mind-clearing runs on these trails. My husband and I just built a new house so that we could be less than a mile away from these trails because we love them so much!
Running gear you can not live without:
I consider myself pretty minimalist when it comes to running, so I absolutely can’t live without the right pair of running shoes. I currently wear the Asics Gel-Lytes and love them!
When not running where would we find you?
At home with my family – they are the most important people in my life. We spend as much time as possible together.
Favorite post race fuel:
Smoothies, especially after a hot race!
