“If you run, you are a runner. It doesn’t matter how fast or how far. It doesn’t matter if today is your first day or if you’ve been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run.” – John Bingham It’s such a great quote because anyone can run, you just have to want to.
Why do you run?
I started running as a means of losing weight. I was so embarrassed by how I looked running when I started that I’d run in my college dorm room, from one end of the room to the other. Over the past 14 years, I’ve gained a tremendous amount of confidence in my running abilities and now try to help get as many people into the sport as possible because it’s been and continues to be such a positive influence in my life.
Favorite place to run:
I love running through Connecticut in the fall. The scenery is like no other, and the crowd support during races is like a party at every race I go to.
Running gear you can not live without:
My handheld water bottle and my phone for music. As long as I’m hydrated and have something to keep a beat, I’m a very happy runner.
When not running where would we find you?
If I’m not running, I’m most likely either hard at work, or at one of the activities for my three kids. From football, to t-ball, dance recitals, karate, and races for my kids, I’m always on the go.
Favorite post race fuel:
I love an iced coffee after a race. It hits the spot just right, and gives me a nice little boost of energy. I’ll never forget the iced coffee I had after my first full marathon. It was magical!
Song you want to hear at the finish line:
“Born 2 Run” by 7Lions. The lyrics are absolutely perfect for any runner and the music helps give me that extra kick as I’m pushing through those last few feet.
