Why do you run?
You may not be the fastest (I’m certainly not!) but the road/trail/path is always there for you. I also run because I’m choosing to be a positive role model for those around me. I’m inspired by: coaching my mom to her first 5k! Leaving my desk-bound tech startup job to lead Globalization at one of my favorite healthy living companies: RunKeeper. I love working with women (okay, men too!) to help them lead healthier lives, and a partnership with Rock ‘n’ Roll will only help me to lead by example.
Favorite place to run:
I like running in new places! Running is a great way to explore the world!
Running gear you can not live without:
I run like a sherpa. You’ll find me with my hydration backpack, cell phone with RunKeeper, Garmin watch, Jawbone Up, shot blocs, dates, honey sticks, salt pills, hat shoved in my bag after I warm up. I swear no particular allegiance, but I love my Mizunos, Vibrams, Brooks, UA Speedforms – any shoes that fit and take me places. I also like compression gear, and I try to wear all of them: Pro Compression, Zensah, Reebok…If there’s one thing I hoard… it’s running gear.
When not running where would we find you?
Copied from above, but: by day, I lead Globalization at RunKeeper, and outside the office I’m a practicing health coach and food consultant. I’ve worked on cookbook projects, with chefs, and as a professional recipe tester. When not working, you’ll find me at my CrossFit box, lifting heavy things, running, jumping, and practicing handstand pushups. Or, you’ll find me in the kitchen, perusing my cookbooks, batch-cooking healthy meals, and snapping photos for my blog, The Second Lunch.
Favorite post race fuel:
I really like dates. But pretty much ALL OF THE FOOD. And some people love chocolate milk… if you add coffee to that, I’m golden.
