Trust Your Struggle. Inspired by a graffiti wall in Atlanta, I wrote this on my arm during my first full marathon in April of this year (the Nashville Country Music Full). It’s a constant reminder that I apply to both running and life.
Why do you run?
Thanks to my parents (who both ran numerous marathons when they were in their 30s, including Boston), I grew up with running more than I grew up with anything else. I run for the freedom, the challenge, the joy, the pain, the ups, the downs, the struggle. Running has taught me just how much my mind and body can endure. Running is my therapy. It’s my release. When I don’t run, I don’t feel like myself.
Favorite place to run:
Although as a native Floridian I’ve grown accustomed to running by the water and training at the beach, there’s nothing like a run in the mountains with crisp, clear, cold air.
Running gear you can not live without:
Nike Running App and my Oiselle Distance shorts.
When not running where would we find you?
Cooking up vegan food, playing outdoors or writing.
Favorite post race fuel:
Vega Hydrator and lots of vegan food.
Song you want to hear at the finish line:
J’Dash – The WOP.
