Yes! I have this quote as the wallpaper on my phone, and I read it whenever a run (or life) gets tough: “I’m a distance runner. I’ve been trained to keep going even when it’s hard. When it hurts. When it sucks. When I don’t want to. I look past it. Relentless forward progress to the finish. Call it what you want; stubbornness, endurance, determination, guts. Deep down, I don’t know how to give up. [And it’s always worth in the end].” Author Unknown.
Why do you run?
I run for peace and quiet! Some days my run is the only alone time I get all day. Running is the only thing I do that’s truly MINE. Also, I like to eat cookies.
Favorite place to run:
The beach! I love to listen to and watch the ocean…there’s just something about being alone on the beach that makes me feel alive and peaceful. I usually end up getting my shoes wet at some point, so then I walk and collect seashells.
Running gear you can not live without:
My FlipBelt and earphones, because I have to listen to music. And I’m a little obsessed with trying different kinds of running socks.
When not running where would we find you?
With my husband and kids – we spend a lot of time together as a family. You’ll also find me blogging on my laptop or buried under a mountain of laundry.
Favorite post race fuel:
Chocolate milk. Actually, I like strawberry milk even better, but it’s hard to find in the non-refrigerated pouches.
Song you want to hear at the finish line:
Something epic and dramatic…I’m really into Coldplay lately, so maybe Yellow or Clocks. Or anything by Jay-Z.
