Registration Opens for 2017 Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon

San Antonio’s World Class Event to Celebrate 10 Years in December

 

SAN ANTONIO, TX – February 15, 2017 – The Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon will celebrate the 10th year running the weekend of December 2 – 3, 2017. The event takes runners on a tour of San Antonio’s historical landmarks and features two days of running culminating in a finish festival and concert in Hemisphere Park.

  • Marathon: $75.99
  • Half marathon: $65.99
  • Relay: $105.99
  • 10K: $49.99
  • 5K: $35.99

“This year, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series is celebrating 20 Years Running, and San Antonio’s 10-year history is an important part of that legacy,” said Cory Michel, Event Manager. “Over the past decade, we’ve witnessed San Antonio become one of the most health minded cities in the country, and we see that in the tremendous amount of community support and participation we receive each year.”

The 10K will take place on Saturday, December 2 in addition to the 5K which has originally been held on Sunday. Participants can take the “Remix Challenge” by running any distance on Saturday and any distance Sunday to earn the coveted Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race’s finisher medals.

The SUBWAY KiDSROCK powered by San Antonio Sports will also take place on Saturday in Brackenridge Park as a non-timed, non-competitive race for children grades K-7. Kids can become marathon finishers on race day by completing a cumulative marathon training program in the weeks leading up to the race, or they can simply choose to run the 1-mile course on race day. The race will open for a limited time at $15.99.

The marathon, half marathon, and relay will take place on Sunday, December 3 starting and finishing downtown. The course will highlight the city’s scenic neighborhoods, historic areas and parks such as the Alamo, San Fernando Cathedral, University of Texas San Antonio downtown campus, San Antonio River Walk, The Pearl and more.

The electrifying energy of live, local bands, motivating cheer teams and thousands of encouraging spectators will entertain runners as they journey along the course. Upon finishing, runners are invited to relax and celebrate with family and friends at the post-race Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series.

Race weekend kicks off with a free Health & Fitness Expo, where runners can find the latest in running technologies, fitness apparel, health and nutrition information and interactive displays. The Expo takes place at The Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on Friday, December 1 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Expo is free and open to the public.
