Event will celebrate five-year anniversary the weekend of Nov. 7 – 8
Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon & ½ Marathon is set to return the weekend of November 7 – 8. This year, the annual fall race will celebrate a milestone anniversary of five-years of running.
“Savannah is a beautiful place and a great destination to run in the fall,” said Erica Wood, Event Manager. “The city has a lot to offer and participants can expect a great course along with charming restaurants and historic sightseeing. With only four months to go until race weekend we encourage all runners to grab a friend, start a training plan and sign up for this November race.”
The event will once again feature two-days of running with the marathon, half marathon and half marathon relay on Saturday and the Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K and One Mile run on Sunday. Participants can take the “Remix Challenge” by running any distance Saturday and the 5K Sunday and earn the coveted Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race’s finisher medals.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon & ½ Marathon will start at Bay Street and Bull Street and finish at Forsyth Park. The course will take runners on a tour of Savannah through charming town squares, historic buildings and under canopies of Spanish moss covered trees. The 5K and One Mile run will take place at Daffin Park.
The electrifying energy of live, local bands, motivating cheer teams and thousands of encouraging spectators will entertain runners as they journey along the course. Upon finishing, runners are invited to relax and celebrate with family and friends at the post-race Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series.
KiDS ROCK also returns on Sunday and allows children in first through seventh grades the opportunity to race one-mile while Kindergartners run a half a mile. Hundreds of children come out for this race, which will take place in Daffin Park.
Race weekend kicks off with a free Health & Fitness Expo, where runners can find the latest in running technologies, fitness apparel, health and nutrition information and interactive displays. The Expo takes place at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center on Thursday, November 5 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday, November 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Expo is free and open to the public.
