November 4-5, 2017 was the 7th annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon & 1/2 Marathon.
The Hostess City rolled out the red carpet to welcome over 15,00 Rock Stars for race weekend.
Things kicked off Thursday, November 2 with the Health & Fitness Expo located in the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center on Hutchinson Island, continuing into Friday, November 3. A unique element exclusive only to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Tour Stop, many participants made their way to the Expo by river boat ferry, courtesy of the Savannah Belles Ferry.
Saturday, November 4 was the first official day of racing with the marathon, half marathon and 2-person half marathon relay. Participants toed the Start Line in historic downtown next to City Hall at the intersection of Bull & Bay Street. They wound their way through downtown, some to Savannah State University, through Victorian neighborhoods, public squares and past many of the city’s renowned sites before ending in Forsyth Park. The fun didn’t stop at the Finish Line, however, as the Finish Line Festival included a headliner concert with Fitz and the Tantrums, food trucks and other activities on the grassy park lawn.
Sunday, November 5 was the final day of racing with a 5K and 1 Mile. Participants raced their way through Daffin Park before finishing inside Grayson Stadium. It also included a short distance Sweet Georgia Pie Challenge wherein participants that completed both the 5K and 1 Mile walked away with their very own personal-sized pie!
