Check out the highlights from the 2015 Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Marathon & 1/2 Marathon below!
Voted “Best Race” by Seattle Weekly, the 2015 Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Marathon & ½ Marathon proved to be an exciting race weekend. The race provided the world’s largest start pistol as thunderous fireworks were launched from the 200-foot platform of the Space Needle to kick off the race. The sights and sounds pumped up the runners as they began their race journey. Twelve Cheer Teams, made up of 250 cheerleaders, encouraged runners throughout the race.
Besides the fireworks, a few other “firsts” set this race apart. The Inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle 8K proved to be a popular distance, selling out in only six weeks! All marathon finishers received an exclusive marathon finisher’s jacket, in addition to the highly anticipated finisher’s medal. The Toyota Concert Series featured Seattle’s very own alternative rock band, Mudhoney. Formed in 1988 and still rockin’ today, Mudhoney provided proof of yet another success in Seattle music. A well-deserved thank you to our 2,400+ volunteers who helped execute a successful race weekend!
