We welcome multiple new partners and welcome back several established partners to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series family in 2016.
At the beginning of 2016, Jaybird became the official headphones and earbuds of the series. Jaybird has been activating at the Health & Fitness Expos with “pop-a-shot” basketball activation, engaging expo attendees at their booth. After each race, Jaybird is giving away five pairs of earbuds to lucky participants in the online Finisher Zone that houses runner’s race results.
Runners have been raving about our new official energy gel and gummie, Glukos. The Glukos products have been on course since the Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona event in January.
We welcome Alaska Airlines as the title sponsor of Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle and as the exclusive airline for D.C., San Diego, San Jose, Los Angeles, Vancouver, CAN., and Las Vegas. “Alaska Airlines has a tremendous culture of supporting runners as their employees have hosted a water station on the course since 2009,” said Josh Furlow, President of Competitor Group Inc.
Lyft is the official ridesharing partner in D.C., Nashville, Tenn., Chicago, and Las Vegas. Throughout event weekends, Lyft offers discounts for existing riders and a free ride (up to $20) for new users. They have an expo booth in each partner market as well as signage at the Finish Line Festival to encourage runners to utilize Lyft’s convenient ridesharing services.

Humana’s partnership has grown as they become a series-wide partner and title sponsor of four events in 2016: Chicago, Virginia Beach, San Antonio, and New Orleans. In addition, Humana will be hosting four new “Tune-UP for Rock ‘n’ Roll” 5K races this fall, free to the public and designed to appeal to a wide range of fitness levels. At Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas, 200 Humana associates participated in both the 5K and half marathon with an additional 75 associates manning an on-course water station. Humana is rolling out new “Start with Healthy” messaging as part of their 2016 campaign, and you can look for more branding and messaging on site at future events.
GEICO has renewed as the official auto, RV, boat, ATV, and motorcycle insurance sponsor of the series. In New Orleans, GEICO launched a new #MyRaceFace social campaign. GEICO encourages race participants to post their race day selfies with the GEICO #MyRaceFace hashtag. In D.C., the GEICO Military Mile at mile eight on the Howard University Campus paid tribute to military service members.
Garmin’s renewal through 2017 marks 10 years of partnership, the longest-standing partnership of the series. Since 2007, Garmin has been the official GPS technology and fitness/exercise watch of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.
Maui Jim has renewed as the official sunglass partner of the series. Maui Jim sends their tiki hut sunglass display to all of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Health & Fitness Expos to create a unique store experience that encourages consumers to engage with their sales associates and try on the Maui Jim sunglasses. Maui Jim also hosts Meb Keflezighi, a Maui Jim brand ambassador, appearances at their expo booth in select markets. Meb, with career highlights that include both Boston Marathon and New York City Marathon Champion titles, is Competitor Group’s VP of Running. He is currently training to compete in Rio de Janeiro, where he will be contending for his second Olympic medal in the marathon.
Eagle Creek has renewed as the official travel gear of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. Eagle Creek and Competitor Group are producing a short video series that will be released later in 2016, sharing travel tips from the pros and educating runners on the best way to prepare and pack for race weekend.
Transamerica has renewed as title sponsor of Rock ‘n’ Roll San Francisco and has exclusivity of the life insurance, investments and retirement, and race registration refund categories. Transmerica continued their Tomorrow Chaser program starting in San Francisco. Drew Thomson returned as the Tomorrow Chaser and for every participant he passed in San Francisco, Transamerica donated $1 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Suja Juice, the fastest growing cold-pressured organic juice and smoothie company in the U.S., is entering its third year as title partner of the 19th annual Suja Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego. Suja will be sampling juice all weekend while hosting a braid bar at the expo and a recovery zone on race day.
