Meet St. Jude Patient Abigail

Abigail, 6 years old, Virginia. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia

In July 2015, blood work showed Abigail suffered from acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Her family was referred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, where her treatment protocol includes two-and-a-half years of chemotherapy. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. “You hear a lot of bad in the world – it’s nice to hear about the good,” said Abigail’s mom. “There is still good out there, and St. Jude is proof of it.”

Runners who fundraise for St. Jude while training for their race are called St. Jude Heroes, and they’re helping kids, like Abigail. The funds raised by Heroes help ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

Abigail has never met a stranger and she sets out every day to make a new friend. She likes to ride her bike and make crafts. Abigail has two dogs at home she loves to play with named Bella and Brutus.
