SEA Course Elevation Notes

ROCK ‘N’ ROLL SEATTLE ELEVATION: Please note that in places where the race route crosses over water like the Ballard Bridge and Aurora Bridge, the elevation shown drops to water level which is not the case as the route runs evenly over these bridges. The dramatic elevation changes on the elevation map/KML are not accurate. Additionally, the elevation change shown on the map on Highland Ave is also not accurate due to the narrow decline off the edge of Highland Drive. These changes have been noted above with approximate corrections.

Gatorade Endurance Formula will be available on race day with Lemon-Lime at every other aid station.
This Endurance formula is a specialized sports drink formulated nearly 2x the sodium and 3x the potassium of traditional Gatorade, with no artificial flavors and a light taste.

Science in Sport is on course at one half marathon and two full marathon course aid stations.
Science in Sport’s Isotonic Gels do not require any additional water for digestion, making them easy to consume during your race.

About the Course

Starting and finishing in Seattle Center, both courses will follow the first 13.1 miles together. Heading immediately south through downtown on 5th Ave, you'll run into the Columbia Street tunnel and begin the climb towards Fremont on the I-5 Express Lanes. After arriving in Fremont you’ll make your way alongside the Lake Washington Ship Canal and Gas Works Park on your way to the Google Seattle Campus. While running along the water you'll also pass the Brooks Trailhead - the one and only retail store of Brooks Running Shoes.

After exiting Fremont you’ll continue running west on Leary Way to head south over the Ballard Bridge. Once over the bridge, prepare yourself to earn your views as you make your way over the top of the famous Queen Anne neighborhood. We promise it will all be worth it as you pass by the original Grey’s Anatomy House on your way downhill to one of the most epic views of the Seattle skyline at Kerry Park. From here, the course makes its way back to Seattle Center where the Half and the Full courses will inevitably split off.

Marathoners will continue the journey north, running over the Aurora Ave Bridge and making their way to the biggest local running area in the city, looping Green Lake. After your 4 mile tour of this gorgeous Seattle neighborhood, you’ll head back south winding your way through the shade of Woodland Park and back down to finish out your 26.2 miles at the Museum of Pop Culture.
