2019 United Airlines Rock 'n' Roll Washington DC Marathon & 1/2 Recap!
More than 17,000 registered participants from ages 12 to 81 took to the streets of Washington DC last weekend to participate in 2019 United Airlines Rock ‘n’ Roll Washington DC Marathon & ½ Marathon. The best-in-class running event kicked off at 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 9 when runners took off for the only marathon to take place completely within the District of Columbia, followed by the half-marathon start at 8:30 a.m. Runners of all athletic levels from 51 countries, regions and territories and all 50 states, enjoyed taking in the iconic sights of downtown DC, starting from Constitution Avenue and 14th Street NW. Runners also packed the start line of the 5K presented by Brooks which began at RFK Stadium, crossed over the Whitney Young Memorial Bridge turned around at East Capitol Street NE and returned to the finish line in front of the stadium. The musically themed road race concluded with the sounds of Richmond, Virginia’s Carbon Leaf who took to the stage as headliner for the Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series, bringing runners and their families to their feet in celebration of the day’s accomplishments.
