The 2018 Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool Marathon and ½ Marathon was a day to remember with nearly 20 000 runners taking to the streets of Liverpool for the 5th running of the iconic event on 20 May 2018. The course started at the Albert Docks, taking runners past some of the Liverpool’s most iconic landmarks and sites incorporating two of the city’s famed attractions; music and football.

Runners enjoyed passing by the Beatles statue and iconic Liver Buildings before going through The Cavern Quarter passing by the legendary Cavern Club, the spiritual home of The Beatles. The course then took athletes to the city’s two football giants with runners going around Everton Football Club’s, Goodison Park followed by Anfield Stadium, home of Liverpool FC, this year taking runners into the stadium itself, past the Shankly Gates and Hillsborough Memorial. Runners also entered the famous Penny Lane and the city’s biggest parks before finishing along the River Mersey. Terence Forrest took the title in the men’s marathon with Hilary Honeyball first to break the tape in the women’s race. Matt Rees and Rachel Doherty took the half marathon titles.
