Meet St. Jude patient Kelsey from Arizona

In late 2016, Kelsey’s parents learned she had a rare, cancerous tumor called CNS neuroblastoma. Kelsey underwent surgery to remove the tumor at a local hospital, after which her doctor recommended the family go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® for her continuing care.

“I had heard about St. Jude and seen the commercials,” said Kelsey’s mom. “We’d heard a lot of good stories and feedback.” At St. Jude, Kelsey’s treatment included chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children. Kelsey is a sweet-natured girl who loves her brother, Wyatt. “She’s very sassy and has the cutest laugh,” said her mom. “We’re so thankful for St. Jude.” Kelsey now visits St. Jude for regular checkups.

Runners who fundraise for St. Jude while training for their race are called St. Jude Heroes, and they’re helping kids, like Kelsey. The funds raised by Heroes help ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
