Half Marathon

The  Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon Mérida and the 10K Race will be held a day after the traditional mexican day of the "Día de Muertos" ("Dead Festival"), which in Yucatan is also call as "Xanal Pixán". In this day the deceased are remembered who come to visit their living relatives. To do this mexican people place "altars" ("altares")  with photos of deceased relatives, candles, bread of the dead and their favorite food, it is decorated with "papel picado" ("cut papers") or different vivid colours and the typical flower of "Cempasúchil" ("the flower of the coming home way"), and in Mérida they also use wild flowers such as pompoms, carnations and roses.  In addition, the family paints their faces like skulls and dress up the typical costumes of this great Mexican party: catrinas, calacas, lloronas ("weepers"), "charro negro" ("black charro"), the "guerrero maya" ("the Mayan warrior") and the typical costume of Yucatan.

Come on, cheer up, make up your face, dress up and be part of the weekend festivities that the Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon MÉRIDA has prepared for you, your family and friends..
