Approximately 12,000 registered runners from age 12 to 81 took to the streets this past weekend to participate in the eighth running of the Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon & ½ Marathon. With a renewed focus on the core pillars of great music in a community environment, runners of all athletic levels enjoyed the sights and sounds Georgia’s most historic city. The best-in-class running event kicked off on Saturday morning when both the marathon and half marathon began at the corner of Bay and E Bull St. with runners from all 50 states and 23 countries receiving a first-class tour of Historic Savannah. Beginning in front of City Hall, runners received a scenic trip through Savannah’s historic downtown district, canopy roads, charming neighborhoods and a grand finish line festival in Forsyth Park that featured Toyota Rock 'n' Roll Concert Series headliner world-renowned musician, filmmaker, and humanitarian, Michael Franti & Spearhead.
