Employee engagement is a $7.8 trillion-dollar issue.
~ Gallup's State of the Global Workplace: 2022 Report
Connection and belonging
are critical to our well-being, and leaders are now tasked with reimagining the workplace environment.
"The number of people who say that they have no one to talk about difficult subjects has tripled in the last few decades, and the size of the average person’s social network decreased by one-third in the last generation.” ~ The American Sociological Review
"Social isolation is a growing epidemic — one that’s increasingly recognized as having dire physical, mental and emotional consequences." ~ Massachusetts General Hospital, Doctor Dhruv Khullar
"It is shown that friendships in the workplace increase employee satisfaction levels by 50%. Furthermore, employees who report having a best friend at work are seven times more likely to engage in their work." ~ Building Brand Communities, Carrie Melissa Jones and Chares Vogl
Charles Vogl defines community as “a group of people who share mutual concern for one another’s welfare.” We need to provide opportunities that promote bonding and social integration. Community is not simply orchestrating a gathering of people; rather, it’s about establishing a culture of belonging.
