Meet St. Jude patient Tinsley from Texas

Tinsley was just eight months old when she became a patient at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, where she received treatment for a rare, cancerous brain tumor called an atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor. Tinsley’s treatment included two rounds of chemotherapy and 30 rounds of proton beam radiation therapy. She also received physical, occupational and speech therapies.

“We were so relieved when we learned we’d never receive a bill,” said Tinsley’s mom. “It lifted a burden off of us.” Tinsley, who loves singing and dancing, is now finished with treatment and visits St. Jude for checkups.

Runners who fundraise for St. Jude while training for their race are called St. Jude Heroes, and they’re helping kids, like Tinsley. The funds raised by Heroes help ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
