Information about road closures for the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon & 1/2 Marathon and 5k on Saturday, April 29, for the new one mile race on Thursday, April 27, and for KiDS ROCK on Sunday, April 30, follow.  All information is subject to change.

Be Aware. Plan Ahead

Road Closures on Saturday, April 29

Runners start downtown on Broadway at 8th Avenue and finish at Nissan Stadium. Course highlights include Music Row, Belmont Boulevard, 12 South, the Gulch, Metrocenter, Bicentennial Mall, East Nashville and Shelby Park.

Please review the course map, the road closure grid, and the Road Closure Notice  for more information. Residents and businesses located near the race course are urged to plan ahead and  be aware of road closure schedules and alternate access routes.

Drivers are encouraged to adjust travel time within and around the race course. The races begin at 6:45 am. Most road closures and detours along the routes will be in effect between 6:00 am and 1:30 pm on Saturday. At 6:00 am, police and event personnel will implement a soft closure along the entire race course.

Streets reopen on a rolling basis when the last participant passes and course support materials are removed. Streets along the earlier miles of the route open earlier than roads along the end of the route.  At most points along the course, pedestrians and bicyclists may cross the course during safe gaps in runners, at the discretion of traffic officers.

Road Closures on Sunday, April 30 for KiDS ROCK

Please also plan ahead for road closures in downtown Nashville on Sunday, April 30. From 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the following streets will be closed for the ING KiDS Rock race. At most points along the course, pedestrians and bicyclists may cross the course during safe gaps in runners. Please follow the discretion of a traffic controller if present

  • Union Street from  3rd Avenue North to the Woodland Street Bridge
  • Woodland Street from the Bridge to Interstate Drive

Alternate Access Routes

ALTERNATE ROUTES TO DOWNTOWN:

To reach downtown locations, use these directions:  

  • Exit I-40 at Church St toward downtown.
  • Exit I-40 at 2nd/4th Ave. Take 1stAve S north. Or take Lafayette St/8th Ave S north as far as Demonbreun.
  • Please review downtown road closures when planning the remainder of your route. If your destination is directly on the race route, park off of the route and walk.

ALTERNATE ROUTES TO METROCENTER

To reach locations north of Rosa Parks Boulevard:

  • Take Jefferson St/Exit 47 off of I-24. (If traveling I-24 East, turn right on Spring St off of the exit.  Spring St becomes Jefferson.)
  • Turn right onto 3rd Ave; stay straight on 3rd.
  • Pass Christie Cookie distribution center on left & Metro Water Facility on right.
  • 3rd Avenue becomes Dominican Dr and brings you into Metrocenter.
  • Turn right onto French Landing (before the traffic light at Rosa Parks Boulevard). Proceed to your destination.
  • Please review Metrocenter road closures when planning the remainder of your route.

To reach locations south of Rosa Parks Boulevard:

  • Enter the Metrocenter area from the north using southbound Clarksville Hwy.
  • Please review Metrocenter road closures when planning the remainder of your route.

ALTERNATE ROUTE TO EAST NASHVILLE

  • Take Spring St/Ellington Pkwy/Exit 47A off of I-24.
  • Curve right on exit ramp. Stay right at first fork. (Do NOT get on Ellington Pkwy.)
  • Then get in left lane, which brings you to intersection of James Robertson Pkwy/Main Street and 5th St/Spring St. (The roads change names at this intersection.)
  • Turn left onto Main St at the traffic light.
  • Turn right onto Forrest Ave or continue on Main St (becomes Gallatin Ave).  For Five Points, turn right onto Forrest Ave, then right onto N 11th St to reach Woodland St.
  • Please review East Nashville road closures when planning the remainder of your route.

Public Transportation Information

On Saturday, April 29, several MTA bus routes will be on detour.  For more details, visit www.nashvillemta.org or contact the Metropolitan Transit Authority office at (615) 862-5950.

No Parking

Street parking will be TEMPORARILY restricted along the race route. Most no parking zones are between Friday, April 28 at 10:00 pm  and Saturday, April 29 at 2:30 pm.  On several downtown streets no parking begins at 8:00am on Friday, April 28 and ends at 9:00am on Saturday, April 29. Please park your vehicles in an alternate location during these times. By law, vehicles in violation of posted signs will be ticketed and towed at the owners’ expense.
